MASKING

So I was working on masking our last stop motion yesterday, the floating/levitation one. It took quite a while... I'm finally done masking and shifting every picture, as well as rendering and putting music in the other stop motions. :D yay officially done all 4 videos!! We had already started our presentation on powerpoint, and will most likely finish it by tomorrow.

Masking troubles with origami stop motion

So, when we were taking photos for the origami stop motion, Alison hardcore derped and forgot to take another picture as the background for masking (double pictures). So I, Stella So had to improvise while masking (Alison helped a bit, she was doing other homework at the time =.="). I had to use two extra layers and use previous pictures to make it look the way it should. Its barely noticeable thanks to contrast and brightness tools and such :) GG Alison! We did good~ Alison taught me how to use Sony Vegas and how to mask <- THAT WAS DURING THE FIRST ONE, THE FISHY ONE. THE SUPER SHORT ONE. LOL. :D

CHESS STOP MOTION

We decided to 16x the speed because it was originally like 12 minutes and moved slower than a snail. It turned out pretty good; even added music to it, compared to the first trial stop motion, it was DEFINITELY a lot better.

FISHY FIRST STOP MOTION

LOL, this one was finished a long time ago, but we never got around to posting it, and it was actually pretty good, although its a bit short. >.>

Levitation~ :D

We made the levitation stop motion on Monday, June 4th, and it was pretty funny. We used boxes and we did other random stuff. This time it was Alison who was in front of the camera, and I was the camerawoman. It was pretty chill for me, but it was pretty tiring for her. It must have been hard Alison! Watching me eat chips and strawberries and cookies while you had to sit still WUAHAHA :DD too bad~ :)

Back breaking work.

Yesterday we made two stop motion animations within about 5 hours. The tedious movements and folding if the origami and such was painful. And in the end we have about 500 pictures for both stop motions in total. =="

Clearer ideas

I clarified with Stella that we have to make a stop motion, not a video. This means it had to be more unrealistic; something that can't happen in a straight forward video. Stop motion allows us to make inanimate objects come to life (without CG or editing).
We came up with an idea of kirby in real life, and a (fake) parfait.

Short stop motion test

We thought up a very random scenario to try a basic stop motion by taking consecutive photos. This is just for testing.

IDEAS/BRAINSTORM (before all that Stella posted)

We looked at a few youtube videos of stop motion animation
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rblKaYJqMXs   (behind the scenes)
It looked like a lot of work for just 1.5 minutes of film, so we decided we will probably only focus on a single stop motion project. We may do other really short (10s) films if we get ideas that are easy to do.

We decided to make a Kirby animation in real life. It would be something like moving paper against a wall, and then adding a surprise by having Kirby move into the 'z-plane', or moving out towards us, not just on the flat wall. This will be much more challenging (& lots of repetitive, annoying editing).

Homemade Kirby :PP out of foam

So I decided to try making my own Kirby. It turned out pretty funny :D
YEAH....

Idea for stop motion decided!! Storyboard and Characters - DRAFT

Character: Kirby, ...?

Storyboard:

*THIS SEGMENT IN 2D* (against a wall)

  1. Pokeball "thrown"
  2. Lands
  3. Kirby pops out (Sleeping?)
  4. Walks
  5. Sucks up enemies and gains powers
  6. Finishes "level"
  7. Gets into cannon.

   *THIS SEGMENT IS IN 3D*
  1. Cannon misfires Kirby towards camera
  2. Kirby's face hits the camera screen
  3. Kirby slides off
Kirby character we decided to try:

BUT. IT WAS TOO BLURRY AND LOOKS HORRIBLE in our opinion.
